April 11, 2024 Trip to Fort Lauderdale
One of our neighbours drove us to the airport where there was no lineup for security and we were ready with over two hour to spare before our plane left on time. It was raining in Toronto.
Once deplaned, after 3 p.m., we followed the crowd to the Connections area, finding that we needed to go through security for going to the states. We had to remove our shoes, which you do not have to do for Canadian security. Next we stood in line for less than 10 minutes for American Customs. In less than 45 minutes we were in the area for flights to the U.S. We shared a sandwich and orange juice and walked seeing where flights were going. There was an hour before boarding. Boarding was delayed almost 30 minutes since the crew was late arriving, possibly due to the rain. The flight from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale, which took off at 6 p.m., was about a 2 3/4 hours. In Fort Lauderdale airport, we followed the signs to Baggage Claim and waited 15 minutes for luggage to appear, then took a taxi to our hotel arriving just before 10 p.m. The hotel was a 10 minute drive on a highway from the airport.
