April 17, 2024 Sea Day #4

The outside temperature at 7 a.m. again today was 18°C, a light breeze and a few small clouds in sky as we walked over three and a half kilometres on deck 3, before breakfast in the dining at a table for two. We wanted to be at B.B. King’s Blues Club for 9 a.m. for Coffee with Nick (the cruise director). His guest today was the staff captain, who is second in command of the ship.

That was followed by the line dance class at 10 a.m. with Andy, the lead Entertainment person. The warmup line dance was Electric Slide. The instruction for today was a beginner dance - Biker Shuffle.  Then for the final few minutes we quickly learned the Cuban Shuffle.

We climbed up to the Exploration’s Café/Crow’s Nest for several games of Five Crowns while sipping our Caramel Lattés.

Again today at noon the clocks went ahead another hour. The captain’s message informed us that we have travelled 1,712 nautical miles (about 3300 km) and are 797 nm from Bermuda. Our position was 36° N and 49°W with an average speed of 19 knots. The direction heading is East 80.77° at 20 knots. The ocean is smooth with just a slight swell of half a meter. Tomorrow may have meter and a half swells

We went down to the Lido buffet for a quick lunch and ate it out on the Seaview patio by the small outdoor pool. One side is devoted to one of the only places where people can smoke. When we returned to the stateroom there was a message that Head Office has verified that the stock onboard credit should have been added to our account. It should be added in the next few days, usually it is added on Day 2.

Yesterday evening there was a letter advising us that some motion activated baseboard lighting was being added to our stateroom sometime today between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Our work was completed when we returned after lunch.

We have both finished the books that we brought with us. We also found Death Before Wicket by Kerry Greenwood in the ship’s library. It will be a quick read at only 230 pages.

At 3 p.m. on the World Stage (main theatre) was a video Route to Happiness about joy the Nordic Way as Scandinavians are rated one of the happiest people on the planet. It was followed by Paul Eschenfelder’s talk Space Travel and You at 4 p.m.

Heather had made other plans for dinner tonight so there was just seven of us at our table. We left dinner early again tonight missing dessert for the Ballroom Dance Hour at B.B. King’s Blues Club. DJ Ace plays a nice variety of dances including, Mambo/Salsa, Tango and Samba.

Finally our account was credited with the shareholders credit. It is a non-refundable credit that we either use it or loose it.  So we may be buying jewelry or clothes or a massage or a lunch/dinner at one of the specially restaurant or even buy some photographs.

The World Stage entertainer this evening was the Canadian comedian, Leland Klassen, from Vancouver. We stopped at the Grand Dutch Café for cappuccinos before returning to our stateroom to watch the movie Book Club: the Next Chapter.
